Match Report

Golders Green football team will meet the Polish Air Force XI at Claremont Road, Cricklewood, on Saturday (kick-off 3.30) in a friendly match in aid of Hendon Warship Week.

Having defeated Enfield at the Southbury Road Stadium earlier in the season, Golders Green appeared to have every chance of completing the double with a home win last Saturday. They failed, however, but have only themselves to blame for their defeat. Weakness and lack of cohesion in attack, poor goalkeeping and a missed penalty were the vital factors.

Enfield are not a great side, but on the day's play deserved their win, since there was more purpose in their play and they were faster as well as more accurate in their movements.

Golders Green's strength was in the half back line which performed valiantly, but the backs were not strong under pressure.
