Golders Green went to Maidenhead to play the return Herts and Middlesex League game against Slough last Saturday, and lost by the odd goal of three, thus surrendering 4 points to Slough for the second successive season.
The Green's defence did all that was asked of it, but the attack, lacking most of the regular players, was poor.
Wreford played an excellent game, and his exploits included saving a penalty for hands. Fisher, moving back to the right, was a rock-like back, and to him and to Lovell must be given the credit for Slough's low score. A. Munday, at left half, also played a good strong game.
Fontana and Pulling were absent, Breagan moved forward to inside right, E. Muday moved to inside left and the side was completed by Bottoms at centre forward and J. Munday outside-left, so that the only regular player in the forward line was Stroud, who, at outside right, worked exceptionally hard and well, but pl,ayed, for the most part, a lone hand.
On Saturday Golders Green will be home to Edgware in the second round of the Middlesex Senior Cup.
