Golders Green F.C. visited Sutton United ein the Athenian League on Wednesday evening and were defeated by 3-0.
After about five minutes play Breagan had an easy opportunity to give the Green the lead, but missed the net. After ten minutes Sutton scored. Just before the interval Thomas went very near to equalising, shooting over the Sutton goalkeeper as the latter lay on the ground after saving another shot, but the goalie reached up and stopped the ball with one arm.
During the second half Sutton put on a fair amount of pressure with hard kicking, and added two goals.
Golders Green have had a bust midweek programme, and under the circumstances they were not keenly disappointed at this result.
R. Carrington, the Old Westminster Citizens goalkeeper, was between the posts for the Green, and F. Boston partnered his brother, W. Boston, at back. Robson and Long were the wing halves, with Graves in the centre, and the forwards were Breagan, Marrable, Thomas, Evans and Webster. Both wing halves are reserve players who were in the Saturday, Monday and Tuesday games.
Last night (Thursday) Golders Green Reserves, at home, drew with Hayes Reserves two-all.
