Golders Green lost their 2nd round London Senior Cup-tie at Barnet on Saturday in the second half, after a goal-less opening forty-five minutes in which there was nothing to choose between the teams.

Barnet fielded a very different side from that which did duty the previous week, and the " Wasps " were almost at pre-war strength. Greygoose, one of the best pre-war goalkeepers, was between the posts; the two regular backs, Wheeler and Hawkins, were playing, while McCarthy and Kelleher, both internationals, turned out.

Golders Green were without F. Boston, and neither T. Kay or L. King, the first choice left-backs, were available. In addition to this, Bloxham received a nasty kick early on, and though he stuck out most of the first half, he had to leave the field, and, after the interval, though he gamely resumed at outside-left, he was obviously in pain, and should not have been playing.

The Green, therefore, laboured under a serious handicap, and, with a disorganised side, it is no small wonder that they gradually faded away.

The first half was goal-less, both sides pressing in turn, and both goalies being frequently in action.

On resumption, however, kicking up the slope, Barnet quickly asserted themselves. Following a corner, GERRANS gave them the lead with a shot which glanced into goal off a post. WEIGHTMAN quickly notched a second, and then GERRANS completely beat Hart with a well-placed ball to put Barnet 3 up.

Golders Green tried several positional changes, and recovered some ground. Stroud and Pulling put McGuire in possession, but Greygoose saved. Then a defender handled in the penalty area, and W. BOSTON, taking the spot-kick, scored the Green's only goal. Right from the kick-off Barnet went away, and gained a penalty for hands, from which McCARTHY scored. WEIGHTMAN, KELLEHER and GERRANS added further goals for Barnet.
