Golders Green played their return Herts. and Middlesex League game at Finchley last Saturday, and in spite of further team difficulties, ran out winners by four clear goals.

Neither of the brothers Kay nor Owen nor Pulling were available. McGuire deputised at left-back, Griggs made a welcome reappearance at centre-forward, while two young players, Earwicker and Birbeck, played at left-half and inside-left, Cochrane moving to the wing.

The visitors soon took the upper hand and opened the scoring. Birbeck put out to Cochrane and from the winger's centre, GRIGGS found the net.

Higgs sustained an injury and moved to outside-right. From this position he netted the second goal, following a pass from Griggs, which HIGGS flashed into the net.

Just before half-time, Higgs beat three men and passed in for GRIGGS to score the third goal.

The interval was taken at the score Golders Green 3, Finchley 0, and on the resumption, the game became more even. Golders Green scored their fourth goal, the only one in this half, when Cochrane got possession, passed in to BIRBECK, who beat the back and puit the ball through into goal.

Golders Green's League record now stands:---
P.16, W 5, D 2, L 9 (Home: W 3, D 1, L 5; Away: W 2, D 1, L 4). Goals: F. 40, A. 56, Pts. 12, position 8th.

The two teams immediately above them (Enfield, P. 17, Pts. 13) and Barnet (P. 19, Pts. 14) have, it will be seen, played more games, so that another win or two for the Green will place them in a respectable position in the table.

Golders Green have no game next Saturday. The game v. Tufnell Park will be played on March 8.
