Golders Green experienced no difficulty in beating an R.A.F. XI at Claremont Road, on Saturday, where they won by six goals to two.
The first half was fairly even but after the interval the home side dominated the game and the match became little more than target practice for them. Only once in the second half did the Green goalkeeper touch the ball.
The game started in fast style with both teams pressing alternatively.
Taffs, the centre forward, was the best of the R.A.F. forwards but he was closely watched by Ellison, who was playing in his best form.
However, after about fifteen minutes' play, TAFFS managed to elude Ellison and put the Air Force in the lead with a long fast shot which gave the home goalkeeper no chance to save.
It was not long before the Green equalised. Cochrane ran down the wing with the ball and pushed it forward to BIRBECK. The inside left shot rather weakly at the goalkeeper who fumbled at easy shot and the ball slipped past him into the net.
A few minutes later GRIGGS notched the Green's second when he banged the ball into the net from well within the penalty area.
Just before the interval CARRINGTON equalised for the visitors. He snapped up a pass from Taffs, beat Boston, who came forward to tackle him, and flicked the ball into the net.
After the interval, Golders Green should have scored an overwhelming tally of goals but for every shot which they sent into the net, at least five went soaring over the crossbar.
GRIGGS opened the second half scoring with the best goal of the match. He beat Carrington in a race for the ball and ran towards goal. He shot when he was about five yards from it and the goalkeeper picked the ball out of the net.
The Green continued to bang away at goal and before the final whistle blew, GRIGGS and H. KAY had both scored for the Green.
The sixth came when an Air Force back deflected a fast shot from H. Kay past his own goalkeeper who obviously thought it was going over the bar because he made no attempt to save it.
