Match Report

The Christmas-tide local derby between Golders Green and Tufnell Park resulted in a 5-2 win for the Green.

Golders Green were without Hart, Bucci and Lovell. As Wreford, the second choice goalkeeper is now in the Army, H. Crisp was brought in to keep goal. S. Benham came in at right back, releasing W. Fisher for centre half, while at outside left G. Rich, a promising young player, made his first appearance for the Green.

Included in Tufnell Park's side was L. Birch, Golders Green's ex-reserve right-back.

Outstanding in the Green's side were W. Fisher, who played a magnificent game at centre-half; his anticipation, tackling and positional play being a feature of the afternoon, while his strong kicking time after time relieved the pressure and enabled attacks to start, and R. Stroud, whose amazing speed frequently left the Park's defence standing.

This Saturday Golders Green have a League match at Claremont Road with Barnet (kick-off three o'clock).

It is hoped that Hart and Bucci will be available, while if Alexander has recovered from the injury he received at Barnet on December 12, he will probably be given a further run with the side.
