Opposing a Hitchin side identical with that which had defeated Walthamstow Avenue a fortnight earlier, Golders Green played great football at Hitchin last Saturday, and gained a well deserved win by 4 goals to 2.

Hitchin played extremely good football, and in the opening stages there was little to choose between the two sides. Gradually, however, by long, hard kicking, Hitchin began to exert considerable pressure, though the Green had several scoring chances.

During a Hitchin rally, T. CLARK, from about 25 yards out, put in a fine drive which completely beat Lucas and entered the net to give Hitchin the lead.

Later Pulling, from a centre by Stroud, put in a ball which ran along the cross-bar, Jones turning it for a corner. Two corners to Hitchin followed.

Just before the interval the Greens got away. Yates gave to Cochrane, who put a beautiful pass through to BUCCI, who scored.

After half-time there was some very even play, and then Munday, holding the ball a little too long, was robbed. The home side attacked and CHAPMAN scored from close in.

Yates, a few minutes later, passed to COCHRANE, who equalised.

Hitchin worked hard to regain the lead. Just after half an hour's play Yates again put to Cochrane, who gave BUCCI another fine opening. The winger again lobbed the ball into the net.

There was less sting in the Hitchin attack now, and about seven minutes from time Yates put the ball through beautifully to STROUD who ran on to score the Green's fourth.
