A close and interesting friendly match at Claremont Road last Saturday ended in a 4-3 win for Golders Green against Woking's Isthmian League side.

The Green were without A. King, suffering from 'flu, but C. Hewitt, of the Reserves, deputised ably. The attack showed an improvement and Lovell at inside right was outstanding. A sound defence checked most of the visiting attacks, although the Green's backs were liable to be lured too far up the field. In a strong Woking forward line, Reeves at outside left was outstanding.

Golders Green opened the scoring after 25 minutes' play, when a good movement started by Topp enabled Stroud to get away and put over a nice centre which LOVELL headed home. Three minutes later it was 2-0, LOVELL again heading home from Stroud's centre. West, soon afterwards, did well to hold a stinging drive from A. Williams.

Five minutes before half-time, Woking reduced their arrears, when REEVES headed home from a corner.

Within two minutes after the restart, the Green scored their third : again LOVELL converted a centre from Stroud, but after 15 minutes' play Woking scored their second, Cox shooting past Roberts following a breakaway.

Midway through this period Stroud gave GRIFFITHS a good pass and the centre forward, completely outwitting his opponent, went through on his own to score the fourth, leaving West well beaten.

Just over half an hour had passed when Woking scored the last goal of the match, to make the score 4-3. With Hewitt up the field, Martin gained possession and swung it out to Walker, who put over a nice cross pass which REEVES converted with a really good shot.
