Golders Green are the only side able to claim a league win over Hayes this season - 5-1 at Claremont Road on September 15 - and Hayes, much improved since then, made sure that the Green did not repeat this last Saturday.

After winning five games off the reel, with a goal average of 18 to 3, Golders Green lowered their colours on the Church Road ground, and for the first time this season were unable to score.

Hayes thoroughly deserved their win. In fact, it is a great credit to the Green's defence that they did not score more. Certainly everything went their way, but apart from that, their forward line was devastating.

Roberts, Fisher and Lynch worked heroically, while Floyd played soundly at centre-half, with Topp and Williams continually helping the harassed defence. It was 20 minutes before Hayes could open their account.
