Before what must have been the biggest attendance since 1939, Golders Green gained their fifth successive Athenian League victory, winning 5-0 against Barking, who came to Claremont Road last Saturday because their own ground is not yet available. In these last five games, Golders Green have scored 18 goals to 3, and risen to second place in the table.

The Green were without Stroud, who was assisting Brentford, but Fair deputised ably and played with enormous zest. Lynch was working with the handicap of a leg injury, but it did not appear to affect his game and he played his usual sound defensive role at left back with an excellent partner in Fisher, who was quick and resourceful. Williams at left-half gave an outstanding performance, while Floyd effectively blocked the centre, holding Gray - a very clever centre-forward - admirably. Topp gave his usual polished display, and there is no question that the Green's current half-back line compares favourably with any that has represented the Club in recent years. The forward line was lively, with Griffiths outstanding, and continually bringing his partner into the play.
