Hendon continued their 100% winning record in the 2026/27 Isthmian League South Central season on Tuesday night with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over a well-organised Bedfont Sports side at Silver Jubilee Park.
A Tuesday night fixture against strong opposition such as Bedfont Sports was always going to be a tough test for Adam Fisher and his players. The Eagles set up in an organised and defensive manner, with their line-up including Javon Marquis, who spent much of last season in Ben Bukowski’s Hendon defence. The main team news for Hendon was the return of star man Radu Stefanoaica to the starting line-up after he missed Saturday’s FA Cup thrashing of Hertford Town.
Hendon, as they have in all of their games so far this term, started with plenty of intent. Florian Ada was denied by the goalkeeper after getting in behind Marquis, while Stefanoaica had a big chance just minutes later to open his account for the evening.
The Eagles finally caved on the 17-minute mark when Tyler Notley delivered a dangerous corner towards the six-yard area. It was met superbly by defender JORDAN WILLIAMS, who powered a header into the top corner to give Hendon a 1-0 lead.
For the remainder of the first half, Hendon looked to build on their advantage and put the game out of sight, but they could not find the crucial second goal. Ayoub Enajar and Stefanoaica both had good opportunities, but the final product slightly evaded the pair, preventing Hendon from extending their lead.
The half-time whistle blew: Hendon 1-0 Bedfont Sports.
Hendon started the second half strongly, with Ta’Shae Andall-Gibbons looking to add to his impressive goal catalogue so far this season. The midfielder attempted to do so in the 53rd minute, but his effort from distance flew just wide of the post.
Fisher made a couple of substitutions as he looked to see out an important three points, with Reece Nicholas-Davies and Harry Brant replacing Ada and Andall-Gibbons. Not long after coming on, young Brant tried his luck from around 20 yards, forcing the goalkeeper into a smart save.
There were three more changes in the closing stages, with Shaban, Brobbey and Howard coming on for Brathwaite, Stones and Stefanoaica.
The final ten minutes saw Bedfont Sports apply considerable pressure as they searched for an equaliser, with Strizovic making several excellent saves to preserve Hendon’s lead. However, the Dons held firm to secure a hard-earned 1-0 victory over their in-form opponents.
Next up is Hastings United away in the FA Trophy, where Hendon will aim to make it six consecutive victories. After all, we do love a long journey in the Trophy…
