Golders Green gained their first victory of the season last Saturday at St. Albans.

St. Albans started with 9 men, but within 10 minutes the late-comers appeared, and Sale saved a "stinger" from Sutterby. Following a throw-in, Chappell and Goodchild got through, but were in each other's way! After half an hour's play, Stroud put the ball in to Bucci who had worked over to the inside right position, and from his pass CHAPPELL opened the scoring for Golders Green.

Just before the interval, Ellison got away, but Sale cleared from a melee in front of goal. At the other end Chappell put over the top following a pass by Stroud.

On resuming, Frankland saved well from Stroud, but after five minutes, STROUD, receiving from Worthington, ran through and shot home from an acute angle to put the Green two up. St. Albans were unlucky not to have reduced the arrears soon afterwards, when, following a free kick, the ball crashed against the cross bar and rebounded into play.

Frankland then saved from Chappell, and another shot by the Green's centre forward was headed for a corner by Grubb. About five minutes before the end, Gallacher took the ball through and passed forward to BUCCI who scored the third with a good drive.
