As some fans may have picked up, news was released late last week that our former midfielder Spencer McCall has been diagnosed with a rare form of bone cancer called Ewing's Sarcoma.

His current side, Hemel Hempstead Town are organising a fundraising walk from Watford's Vicarage Road Stadium to Hemel's Vauxhall Road ground on Easter Monday - 22nd April 2019 - ahead of Hemel's Vanarama South fixture with Weston Super Mare and leaving the Premier League club's home at 10am. They have invited fans and staff of all of his former clubs to take part on all of, or part of the route if they would like to help raise funds for Spencer to help him through his treatment.

Spencer joined Hendon at the beginning of the 2016/7 season from Harrow Borough and made 30 appearances for the club, scoring twice, before joining neighbours Wingate & Finchley later that season. A hard-working and classy midfielder, Spencer always made time for a word with supporters before and after matches and was a hugely popular figure with his team-mates.

The full route for the walk will be published on the Hemel Hempstead Town website in due course and we will provide it here for any interested fans. In the mean time, a Just Giving page has been set-up to support Spencer and anyone who wants to and is able to donate can find the link here

Everyone at the club would like to pass on their best wishes to Spencer as he begins his treatment and wish him a full and speedy recovery.
