Hendon left it late to snatch all three points against fellow strugglers Ascot United.
The visitors took the lead in the fifth minute. Cameron Rohalt-Brown was unmarked as he controlled and drilled home a deep cross from Jahaim Kamara.
In truth, Hendon might have been out sight in the first half, but they failed to take a number of excellent openings.
Four clear-cut chances weren’t taken with, disappointingly not one requiring a save from Kie Plumley.
When Plumley was called into action, in the 40th minute, he did superbly well to tip a Victor Ferrini against the crossbar.
In the second half, the Greens were in complete control and they equalised through skipper Dave Diedhiou after 54 minutes, netting after a corner had not been cleared.
A multitude of chances came and went as the Ascot goal led a charmed life. Niko Muir, playing more deeply, orchestrated much of what was best from the Greens, and he also took responsibility for set pieces.
Such was the Greens’ domination that Ascot did not touch the ball in the Hendon penalty area until Kai Allsopp headed a free-kick narrowly over the bar in the 85th minute, It was Ascot’s first chance of the half.
The referee had signalled six minutes of additional time and he added a little more after some time-wasting.
In that additional extra-time, Hendon won a free-kick 35 yards out on the left side. The ball was curled in and there was Diedhiou to nod the ball into the net for the winner.
It was essentially the last touch of the game because as soon as Ascot touched the ball to restart – Lucias Vine trying his luck from 58 yards – the final whistle was blown.
