Match Report

By visiting and defeating Custom House on Saturday by 1 goal to 0 Hampstead Town go to the top of the London with 15 points out of a possible 18, and an unbeaten record. This was the Town's third League match in six days, and it says much for their stamina that they were going at a greater pace than their opponents at the close of the game. Custom House have scored more goals than any other club in the League but were quite unable pierce the Town's defence. The outstanding player on the Hampstead side was E. J. E. Wright, at centre-half, who improves with every game, and on Saturday his head work and perfect forward passes did much to help the Town to their splendid victory. A. Tomkins scored for the Town in the second half. This result will rank as one the best of the season for the Town, as Custom House were at full strength and a victory for them meant a possible chance of winning the League.
