Match Report

The Town reached the semi-final of their division of the English Cup competition by virtue of a win over Maidenhead Norfolkians at Maidenhead last Saturday by 3 goals to 0.

The game was played in torrents of rain. The Town immediately assumed the offensive. G. Garlick forcing a corner in the first minute. After twenty minutes play O. James drew the defence and scored with a beautiful cross shot, but immediately afterwards was the victim of a heavy charge which incapacitated him for the rest of the match.

The Town's misfortunes did not end here. G. Rathbone, shortly after twisting his knee and taking no further part in the game.

Notwithstanding these handicaps, the Town continued to show superiority over their opponents, a further goal being scored by G. Marchant - a splendid header from a well-placed corner kick by G. Garlick. A. Humphreys adding the last point just before time.
