Match Report

In the first round of the competition proper of the Amateur Cup, Hampstead Town (who had been excused the qualifying stages) were beaten by Grays Athletic, at Grays, by 4 goals to 1, before 2,000 supporters. Daniels scored for the home team in the first minute, Travers Day making the score level just upon half time. Miller placed Grays ahead in a minute of the restart, Bannister and Daniels adding two further goals. In a very fast game Wood kept a good goal for Grays.

From "GLEANINGS FROM SPORTS CLUBS" by Rambler

Hampstead Town will play Luton Amateurs at Cricklewood-lane tomorrow (Saturday). Kick off 2.30. The failure of the team in recent important games, despite patient trial, warrants drastic changes with a view to re-establishing the playing strength, and a number of new men will don the Club jerseys for this encounter.

The qualification of players under the rules of the various Cup competitions is a bar to radical changes in a side, but now that this stage is passed, the policy of Hampstead Town will be to give trials to players of the right stamp in all positions, and thus to build up a team to uphold the traditions of Hampstead now and in the future.
