In their English Cup-tie [F.A. Cup extra preliminary round] with Luton Frickers, played on the Child's Hill ground on Saturday before a large attendance, Hampstead [Town] showed marked superiority over their opponents in the early stages and opened their score after fifteen minutes' play with a fine goal by Travers Day.

After C. Standish had saved in brilliant style what appeared to be a certain score for the visitors, F.G. Young put Hampstead further ahead, and they crossed over with this substantial lead.

Kenneth Seabrooke quickly added to the tally after resuming, and then during the apparently inevitable period of slackening by the home side, Luton goaled twice in quick succession, both goals being scored by H. Lawson, who had been transferred from outside-right to centre-forward.

This temporary set-back caused Hampstead to redouble their efforts, and very quickly Young made the result safe with a fine goal from Stanley Smith's centre. At the final whistle the visitors missed badly with a penalty-kick, taken by Lawson.

E. Irwin, the Garden Suburb player, who deputised for Wise in the latter's absence on holiday, gave a very promising display, and he should soon earn a regular place in the first team. Stanley Smith, too, gave another excellent exhibition at outside-left, and the club have cause for congratulation in having solved the problem of this position in the forward line caused by the retirement of Howell. W.T. Field was again brilliant at right-back, and indeed the outstanding player, while Travers Day played an improved game on the right wing, and if he displays the form shown in this encounter there should be no reason for a change.
