Golders Green visited Slough last Saturday, and had to admit defeat in a high scoring game, by 6 goals to 4. They fought back well after being four goals in arrears, however, and, towards the end had most of the play, but could not penetrate the home defence sufficiently to draw level.
At the same time fault must be found with the Golders Green backs for conceding six goals, even though three were of doubtful validity on the grounds of "off-side." W. Boston is prone to lie much too far forward -- in fact, in this game he scored a goal -and to rely on "off-side" tactics, which, taken as a whole, never pay. McGuire did not have a good game, so that the Green's defence was to easily pierced.
[The Golders Green line-up will be found following this report.] At half-time Eliison and Bloxham, as well as Owen and Cochrane, interchanged positions.
The forward line was stronger than for some weeks, and functioned well. Owen and Cochrane made an excellent and live wing, while Breagan did well in the centre. Stroud was not quite his usual self, but the half back line was excellent.
