Golders Green gained an easy 3-1 victory over Wood Green at Claremont Road on Saturday. Except for a brief period after Wood Green had gained the equaliser, the home side had the better of the play.
They opened up in promising style, and after 15 minutes' play, STROUD opened the score from a good pass by Evans. Then the home side eased up, and Wood Green settled down. Following a mistake by Munday, PHILLIPS shot home to give them the equaliser.
After half-time Wood Green tried hard for the lead but were repulsed. A fine shot by Evans was kicked off the goal-line by Cuthbert with Joy beaten. Then Munday gained possession. The ball passed to Goodchild, then to STROUD, who put in a magnificent shot which Joy touched but could not stop.
Wood Green made a dangerous attack, but almost at once however, the issue was put beyond doubt when STROUD netted the Green's 3rd goal, completing his "hat trick."
