Golders Green ran out easy winners in their first round Charity Cup Tie against Enfield at Claremont Road last Saturday.

Once again, however, the forward line did not shine. With Marrable unfit, Fair was outside-right, and infused life into an otherwise drab attack. The defence was again first-rate, with Topp dominating the proceedings at centre-half.

After a quarter of an hour Griffiths passed to FLOYD, who opened the home side's account. Soon after, Constable passed to CALVERLEY, who cut in and lobbed the ball over Roberts into the net for the equaliser. Just before half-time, Fair was tripped in the penalty area as he was going through. LYNCH scored with the spot kick to put the Green ahead again.

Five minutes after the interval, Griffiths gave Cochrane a nice pass, and Stevens deflected the winger's shot past Holben for the Green's third; after 20 minutes, Fair dashed in to fasten on to a forward pass, and beat Holben, to score the fourth.

In the deepening darkness - the penalty for a kick-off behind schedule - Golders Green piled on four goals in the last quarter of an hour. GRIFFITHS notched the home side's fifth with a well-placed shot following a forward pass by Williams; KING scored the sixth, the outcome of a nice move between Griffiths and Cochrane; GRIFFITHS got the seventh, touching in a perfect low centre by Cochrane, while FAIR, receiving from Cochrane, netted the eighth. As this goal was scored, Holben appeared to collide with Stevens, who had switched to left-back, and had to leave the field; but the ball had hardly been kicked off when the final whistle went.
