Match Report

On Tuesday of last week we played Kingstonian at home, and those of you who saw the game must have found it to be a match which promoted very mixed feelings.

It was our third consecutive win, this suggesting very satisfactory progress, but in the event it was a match in which our early superiority was too readily resigned.

When Micky Cooper scored after 33 minutes, one felt that this was to be the first goal, certainly not, as it transpired, the only goal.

A curling shot from the right wing, it appeared to be going outside until a last moment change of course swerved it round the goalkeeper and into the net.

The one shot from the visitors to beat a "well on form" John Swannell found Barrie Davies beautifully positioned to clear off the line.

If we were guilty of missing several apparently easy chances we will offer a partial excuse that when Micky Cannon left he field after 15 minutes we lost our most dangerous looking player. Full of dash and skill, he always looked a potential scorer and in his absence the line never moved as smoothly or as menacingly
