Vargas undertakes cross-dressing forfeit

As some of our supporters will be aware, our squad this season shared a bet that saw every outfield regular looking to score at least one goal this season. Although clearly getting on the scoresheet is incentive in itself, an additional wager between the players saw the team agreeing that any regular that failed to score would turn out at the end of the season in a dress.

A number of players came close, with Danny Dyer's goal early in the season against Aveley earning him a reprieve, while Kevin Maclaren's goal in the 17th(!) minute of first half stoppage time against Horsham was enough to save the younger Maclaren brother. Club captain James Parker's excellent shot on the turn at Harrow saved him the humiliation, while James Burgess did everyone a favour in the last week of the season by netting the final goal against Maidstone to avoid the forfeit.

However, Craig Vargas failed to find the back of the net despite winning the 'miss of the season award' against Waltham Abbey and being given every chance by being sent up front towards the end of the season on several occasions by Gary McCann and so was subjected to the embarrassment of turning out in public in a full women's outfit last Thursday.

To his credit, Craig arrived at last week's supporter vs first XI match not only in dress and short top, but played for the first twenty minutes or so in the same clothes before changing into his normal kit. Unfortunately for Craig, a change of outfit did nothing for his game - despite playing against a team of amateurs, he still failed to score!
