Sunday afternoon football a success

A crowd of more than 350 enjoyed an afternoon footballing feast yesterday afternoon at Silver Jubilee Park as an Arsenal Charity XI took on Fresh Ego FC.

With Hendon manager Lee Allinson making a 90-minute cameo in goal for Arsenal, there were plenty of goals for the crowd to witness, including a trademark pearler from former Hendon man Darren Currie.

Our thanks go to everyone involved in the organisation of the game, to Nigel Kyte and Craige Tomkins (of Edgware & Kingsbury) for stepping in to run the line at short notice, and to everyone that took time out to volunteer on the day.

We will release the full figure raised as soon as all the monies have been counted, but initial estimates are that the day will have raised approximately £3,500.
