This evening sees us play our first league derby of the campaign as we host Hayes & Yeading United, kick-off at 7:45pm.

Those that were there will recall that Hayes would have been our last visitors to SJP before lockdown, however gale-force winds that kept blowing the corner flags asunder led the match referee to postpone the game just three minutes before kick-off.

Prior to that, the two sides had met three times last season. A thrilling FA Cup tie ended 5-4 to our opponents before they won 3-2 on a Tuesday evening in the league. Then, shortly after Lee Allinson's arrival we fought back from 2-0 down in the League Cup to force a penalty shoot-out thanks to a late scorcher from Corey Panter, eventually winning 7-6 in the shoot-out thanks to three saves from on-loan goalkeeper Dante Baptiste.

The season before, Hayes & Yeading comfortably won a Middlesex Senior Cup tie at SJP 2-0 in January 2019, thus ending The Greens' interest in any cup ties that season.

At the weekend the visitors enjoyed a thumping 5-0 win in the FA Cup against Isthmian League side Bognor Regis Town, a superb second-half nap-hand sealing their way into the 3rd Qualifying Round and a home draw against Chipstead next Tuesday evening.

In the league so far, like us they have won, drawn and lost one game apiece after beginning with a 1-1 draw with Taunton Town, they then lost 2-1 at Poole Town before getting their first win last week with a 3-1 success over Swindon Supermarine.

There is a fair smattering of former Greens in the visitor's ranks, with strike duo Dylan Kearney and Francis Amartey pairing up, the latter already with 3 strikes to his name this season, whilst also in the ranks are Scott Shulton and Shaquille Hippolyte-Patrick, both of whom are familiar faces to Hendon supporters.
