Hendon Legends - Pick your Centre-Halves

We continue our look at the shortlisted legends with a look at who the panel has chosen amongst their centre-halves.

Dexter Adams: 308 appearances, 14 goals (1948 – 1958)

Regular England Amateur international, won the Athenian League twice and appeared in the 1955 Amateur Cup Final. Also won 2 Middlesex Senior Cups and 3 Middlesex Charity Cups.

Geoff Riddy: 129 appearances, 11 goals (1961 - 1966)

Part of the 1965 treble winning side that won the FA Amateur Cup (scoring in the semi-final), Isthmian League and Middlesex Senior Cup. Also a London Senior Cup winner in 1964.

Peter Deadman: 552 appearances, 15 goals (1970 – 1982)

Won the Amateur Cup in 1972 (scoring the winner in the semi-final), Isthmian League and Barassi Cup in 1973 and part of the side that drew 1-1 at Newcastle. Won 2 Middlesex Charity Cup winner’s medals and was part of the 1977 Isthmian League Cup winning team.

Alan Phillips: 232 appearances, 11 goals (1971 - 1976)

Another member of the successful side of the early 1970s, winning the Amateur Cup and Isthmian League and playing at Newcastle. Won the Middlesex Charity Cup in 1976.

Alan Campbell: 395 appearances, 31 goals (1976 – 1981, 1986 – 1989 & 1992 - 1992)

Won the Isthmian League Cup in 1977 and a 3-time winner of the Middlesex Charity Cup, including at Wembley Stadium in 1988. Had a spell as player-assistant manager in 1991/2 as well.

Phil Gridelet: 264 appearances, 8 goals (1985 – 1989 & 2000 – 2001)

Debuted in the 1985 Middlesex Charity Cup Final, picking up a winner’s medal and added a second in 1988 at Wembley Stadium. Also won the Middlesex Senior Cup in 1986. Won England semi-professional recognition before moving to Barnet and the Football League.

Elliott Brathwaite: 97 appearances, 4 goals (2011 – 2017)

Won the Isthmian League Cup and London Senior Cup in 2015, as well as a key part of the side that reached the Isthmian League play off final in the same year. His career was sadly blighted by a series of serious knee injuries.

Charlie Goode: 36 appearances, 2 goals (2014 – 2015)

Also part of the Isthmian League Cup and London Senior Cup winning sides of 2015 and played in the Isthmian League play off final the same year. Won an England C cap before moving onto Scunthorpe United. Now captain at Northampton Town.
