The first team completed their pre-season preparations with another good performance, overcoming Tooting & Mitcham United 3-0. However the evening was soured by the dismissal of Finbarr Robins for violent conduct ten minutes from time.

All the goals came in the first half, the first coming from Dale Binns who rifled home after excellent work from Andre Da Costa and Aaron Morgan. Just three minutes later Kezie Ibe latched onto a poor clearance to double the lead, and the third came towards the end of the half when Binns seized on a defensive slip and laid the ball into the path of Andre Da Costa. Just before half time Brendan Norris made an outstanding save to tip the ball onto the bar.

The second half saw fewer chances, but the Greens were always in control. Major positives for Gary McCann will not only be the overall team performance, but also the return to action of Kevin Maclaren in midfield. There was just one new trialist in the squad tonight, in the shape of central defender Alfie Young, who was recently released by Watford.

Team : Norris, Vassell, Lee (Balogun 70), K Maclaren (Murphy 61), Young, Cole, A Da Costa (Kuehn 70), Robins, Morgan, Ibe (Muir 83), Binns (K Da Costa 61). Unused sub : Laurencin.
