It was play-off heartbreak for Hendon this afternoon as they were beaten 1-0 by Margate in the play-off final at Earlsmead this afternoon.

The task turned out to be a tough one after Aaron Morgan was sent off for a tackle considered by the referee to be dangerous - leaving the Greens with ten men for well over an hour.

The decisive goal came in the 39th minute when the prolific Ryan Moss found the back of the net.

Hendon refused to give up, and searched for an equaliser, but found the Margate defence in unforgiving mood, with Charlie Wassmer outstanding for the visitors.

We congratulate Margate their win and promotion to Conference South, and we would like to thank everyone who came to the game this afternoon.

For the Greens, despite the disappointment of missing out today, this will be a season to remember - with two cup wins and 25 match unbeaten run living long in the memory.

The squad now take a well deserved break, before returning to training in a few weeks, undoubtedly keen to go one better next season.
