A season to remember

Whilst missing out on the play-offs has been disappointing, when we look back on the 2011-12 season it will certainly be one to remember.

Throughout the campaign we have been in and around the top of the table, and that is testament to the many hours that our management team of Gary McCann, Freddie Hyatt, Junior Lewis, Paul Faulkner, Mark Findley and Dean Townsend have put in since this time last year. They have worked wonders, and in reality they have given us a season that clubs with bigger budgets will envy. A big thank you to them all.

We must also give a big thank you to the players, who, without exception, have put in a fantastic shift this season, particularly given the injuries that have blighted our campaign from beginning to end. Hopefully we can start the new season with a fully fit squad. We have a fantastic squad, who clearly have a superb team spirit - and that has shown in their performances and results.

They have given us plenty of highlights to remember. The FA Cup tie at Luton, a run to the semi-finals of the Middlesex Senior Cup, winning the London Senior Cup, taking four points off Wealdstone in one season, the recent demolitions of Wingate & Finchley, Tooting & Mitcham and Aveley, and may more besides.

We must also thank Graham Etchell, who as club secretary, and his expertise in administration for a football club, is second to none. Without his hard work, it would be so much harder to keep the club running on a day to day basis. Also, thanks go to our board of directors, Simon Lawrence, Michael Harte and David Bedford for giving the club excellent leadership.

Thanks also go to David Ballheimer, for his excellent match reports, and those other reporters who stand in when David is unavailable. We are also very grateful to all those supporters who do so much hard work behind the scenes, whether its for the supporters trust, the supporters association, taking on matchday duties or any of the other numerous tasks around the club.

Without our fantastic supporters, there would be no Hendon, and we wouldn't be looking forward to our 50th consecutive season in the top division of the Isthmian League.

The website will continue to be updated regularly throughout the summer, with news on friendlies and any player movements as and when they are confirmed.

In the meantime, we hope that everyone has a wonderful break, and we look forward to seeing you all back in July & August when things get underway again, and who knows - maybe we'll go one step better next season.
