As many people will be aware, it was announced yesterday that former Middlesex and England cricketer Fred Titmus has sadly died after a long illness aged 78.

As well as his first class cricket career that spanned a period from 1949 to 1982, Fred also played football. His football career included a couple of years with Hendon, mainly in the reserves. He did make one first team appearance in November 1950, in a London Challenge Cup semi final against Charlton Athletic Reserves, a game that the Addicks won 1-0.

Our sincerest condolences go out to his family and friends at this sad time.
