Hendon progressed into the quarter finals of the London Senior Cup with a 4-3 win in extra time against a spirited and hard working Croydon Athletic side. The Rams took the lead in the 19th minute when Matt Fowler converted a penalty, and shortly before half time Barry Stevens doubled the lead as the Hendon defence went missing. The Greens had a goal disallowed for handball by Mark Nicholls early in the second half, but in the 61st minute Nicholls redeemed himself with a lob from the edge of the area. Eight minutes later the scores were level as Nicholls scored again, but soon afterwards Stevens restored the lead for the South London side with the defence disappearing yet again. However, in the 82nd minute John Frendo scored with a shot that was driven across the keeper into the far corner of the net to take the game into extra time. The winning goal came in the 107th minute when Frendo showed good strength to hold off a defender to drive the ball into the net. Hendon will travel to Fisher Athletic or AFC Wimbledon in the next round.
