Penalty enough for Dartford

It became three defeats in a row for Hendon as they failed to hit the target again at Dartford's Princes Park. In a game punctuated by regular free kicks, it took almost 35 minutes for Hendon to register their first, and only, shot on target - Jamie Busby driving the ball straight at the 'keeper. With five minutes remaining in the first half, Dartford saw themselves reduced to ten men as James White caught a defender with an elbow. However, while holding posession well, the Greens failed to get a meaningful shot on goal before half time. The second half saw more of the same, as Hendon were either too intricate in the final third or shot well wide and Dartford absorbed the pressue, occasionally breaking quickly on the counter attack. On one of these occasions, in the 74th minute, the Darts were awarded a penalty which, although saved by Viner low to his left, was ordered to be retaken. Viner went the same way again, as did the ball, but this time the strike was too good. The visitors misery was completed late on as James Parker was dismissed for his second booking.
