Hendon won their Middlesex Senior Cup tie against Harrow Borough this evening, although it took 120 minutes of football and a penalty shoot out to settle the tie. With the weather making conditions difficult for the two sides, Hendon started the stronger and it was no surprise when in the 20th minute after some excellent work on the right wing the ball was crossed in for Brian Haule to head home. However, Harrow brightened up as the half went on and just five minutes before half time the ball reached Gary Noel around 18 yards from goal. A good strike from the youngster beat Viner all ends up to leave the former Dulwich player celebrating his fourth goal against the Greens this season.

A further 65 minutes of football produced several chances at either end, some of those for Hendon looking gilt-edged, but neither side managed to put an effort away. Penalties followed, Guentchev scoring Hendon's first and the home side looking good as Harrow missed theirs. Both sides missed their second, before Busby netted the Greens' third and Harrow pulled one back - Viner making a stop, but then seeing the ball loop up eight foot into the air and drop over the line. Embarrassingly for both sides, in four further penalty attempts, neither found the target, leaving the Dons 2-1 winners in the shoot out. Hendon will host either Wealdstone or Hampton & Richmond Borough in the next round.
