Thursday 13th May - An apology

We apologise for the lack of coverage of the youth teams this season. We will endeavour to return to the full service again next season.

Sunday 30th November - AFC Wasps 0 Hendon 10

Hendon's under 14s team had a comprehensive 10-0 victory this weekend over AFC Wasps. Four goals ahead at half time the whole team continued to work hard throughout the whole game to score six more. Carmichael Boois and Azzam Zaied both scored hat-tricks, while Emmett Rowe, Mark Blooman, Matthew Hornblow and David Paice all scored, the latter netting from the penalty spot. Manager Dewi Davies was delighted with the performance saying "the boys played brilliantly this morning and we dominated the game for the full 70 minutes with good passing throughout the side."

Sunday 9th November - Hendon 1 Brook House 2

Hendon Under-14s are getting closer to a number of their rivals, but they are still encountering problems in overcoming the physical differences between them and their larger rivals. Against Headstone Manor's "B" squad, Hendon took the lead in the first half through Carmichael BOIS, but Headstone Manor replied with a goal, 4 minutes before the break. In the second half Manor snatched the winning goal. "We are still struggling against much bigger opponents," admitted manager Dewi Davies. "But we are getting closer. My man of the match was David PACE."

Sunday 19th October - Hendon 5 Forest United 0

Hendon Under-14s put aside their recent run of bad form to run out convincing winners against Forest United at Copthall Playing Fields on Sunday morning. Emmett ROWE opened the scoring in the 11th minute and the prolific Matthew HORNBLOW doubled Hendons pleasure 6 minutes before half-time. Early in the second half, Hendon were awarded a penalty and Mark BLOOMAN confidently converted it, only for the referee to order a retake because almost the entire Forest team had encroached. Blooman kept his nerve and netted the second attempt too. In the 53rd minute, Zaid MADJIDI made it 4-0 and, with 7 minutes remaining, BLOOMAN grabbed his second to complete an excellent days work. Manager Dewi Davies was understandably delighted with the result and performance, saying, "I am proud of every single one of the players today. They have shown great heart and commitment in bouncing back after last weeks disappointment. My man of the match was Zaid MADJIDI, who stands only 3-foot, nothing, but he still scored with a great header today."

Sunday 12th October - Northwood 10 Hendon 4

Hendon Under-14s went out of the Middlesex Youth Cup at Northwood on Sunday, despite a hat-trick from striker Matthew HORNBLOW. The first half was quite even, with HORNBLOW grabbing two goals and Owais TALIB netting a third from the halfway line, although Hendon did trail 5-3. HORNBLOW completed his hat-trick to make it 5-4 soon after the break, but that was as good as it got for Hendon. Mahamatallah was sent off with a Northwood player following a nasty clash and although the two teams were short-handed, Northwood exploited the extra space better and added 5 more goals.

Sunday 5th October - Princes Park 6 Hendon 0

Hendon Under-14s' tough lessons in football life continued on Sunday morning as Princes Park brushed them aside 6-0. In the opening half, it was pretty much one-way traffic as Princes Park scored 4 times without their goalkeeper so much as making a save. It got much better after the break as Hendon started to put some moves together. Although they conceded a couple of goals, there was much more for manager Dewi Davies to take positives from. "We have trouble dealing a lot of these teams because they are so big. We will get stronger and better as we learn to cope with these players. There are definitely some things to come out of the game and I know it will take time."

Sunday 28th September - Hendon 1 Kentish Town 6

Hendon Under-14s were brushed aside by a very strong Kentish Town outfit in the Harrow Youth League at Copthall Playing Fields on Sunday morning. Kentish Town took the lead after 10 minutes and doubled it in the 17th. Matthew HORNBLOW reduced the arrears 7 minutes before half-time, but Kentish Town took advantage of Hendon's loss of concentration to make it 3-1 just before interval. In the second half, it quickly became 4-1, before a controversially awarded penalty in the 54th minute added to Hendon's misery. Eight minutes from time Kentish Town completed their good morning's work with a 6th goal. "We are new team just blending in," said manager Dewi Davies, "and we are learning together. Nevertheless, it was an off-day for us. Our two best players were Matthew HORNBLOW and Tarik KAMAL."

Sunday 14th September - Hendon 5 Larkspur Rovers B 0

Hendon Under-14s began their campaign with a sweet victory over a Larkspur Rovers 'B' squad that last year completed the double over them. It was the perfect opener for new manager Dewi Davies.

Saturday 26th July - Under 14s look for improvement

The Under 14s will be looking to improve on last season's disappointment in the Harrow Youth League, where the side finished bottom of their division, despite putting in some good performances. There will be one definate change for the new season, as manager Gary Hyams has moved on, leaving his assistant Dewi Davies with the job of coaching the side.
