Friday 25th July - A vote of thanks

The club would like to publically thank Wembley FC chairman Bryan Gumm for allowing us to their ground yesterday evening, and also to all his staff who came along to open up the bar and the snack bar so that supporters were able to purchase refreshments. We are very grateful for their help and we look forward to returning next weekend for our friendly against them.

The club would also like to thank John Rogers, Nick McMullen and Liam Coogan-Jobes for their assistance in manning the turnstiles and the gates during the evening.

Friday 25th July - London Senior Cup draw

The London Senior Cup draw was made last week, and as in previous years we will enter in the last 16 (third round). We have been given a tough tie as we have been drawn away to Bromley. The date for the game will be announced in due course.

Thursday 24th July - Stevenage show their class

Despite losing 4-1 to Stevenage Borough this evening, Hendon could hold their heads up high thanks to a good hard working performance. Stevenage fielded a side that was a mix of experience and youth and it was their class that showed through, particularly up front where they fielded the experienced Iyesden Christie. Stevenage took an early lead, but shortly before half-time the Greens scored the goal of the game when Sam Byfield fed the ball to Lubo Guentchev. The Bulgarian stopped the ball dead and allowed James Bent to run in and score with a very good strike. Stevenage restored their lead early in the second half, and scored further goals during the half. Hendon's best chances in the second period fell to Kevin Maclaren, who saw his piledriver tipped over the bar, and Dave Maissa Diedhou who saw his shot just tipped onto the post by the Stevenage keeper.

Friday 18th July - Ground clearing day postponed

Due to a number of the Supporters Association committee being unavailable this weekend, the annual ground clearing day due to take place on Sunday has now been postponed. It has been rearranged to take place on Sunday 3rd August from 9.00am. We hope to see as many supporters as possible there to help make sure the ground is ready for the new season.

Thursday 17th July - Gary takes a look at the trialists

In tonights trialists game against Hanwell Town. Gary McCann took the chance to take a look at a number of trialists. Indeed, only four of the twenty-one players used tonight played for the club last season, one of which is Rob Ursell who is back in training with us. Despite the result, a 4-0 defeat, it was a very worthwhile exercise for Gary and his management team of Freddie Hyatt and Bontcho Guentchev as they were able to decide which trialists to keep on and which ones to release. Whilst the game was going on, the rest of the first team had an intensive training session.

Wednesday 16th July - Livescores for new season

Our popular Livescores service will recommence at our first league game of the season. Unfortunately the system doesn't really work for friendlies and multiple substitutes, so we won't be running the service for the pre-season campaign.

Tuesday 15th July - Venue confirmed for Hanwell game

The venue for Thursday nights game against Hanwell Town has been confirmed. The game will take place in Clitterhouse Playing Fields behind our own Claremont Road ground. Tuesday 15th July - First run-out ends in draw

Hendon opened their pre-season campaign with a 2-2 draw at Godalming Town. After going a goal behind, the Greens equalised with a close range finish from Frankie Wilson, before Doug Kissull put Hendon ahead. However, Godalming levelled matters shortly before the end in a game that was a good work out for both sides, and gave Gary McCann the chance to run the rule over a number of trialists. The full list of players used and a brief report can be found on the link below

Friday 11th July - AGM report

Around 40 people attended the Supporters Association and Supporters Trust AGM's last night. Both AGM's proceeded as normal. The Supporters Association committee remains unchanged and consists of Mike Hogan (Chairman), Tony Wood (Vice-Chairman), Sandra Wood (Secretary), Geraldine Clarke (Treasurer), Les Vincent, Bernard Lawrence and Chris Rogers.

The society board of the Supporters Trust remains largely unchanged and consists of Simon Lawrence (Chairman), Alan Ainsworth (Secretary), Mike Harte (Treasurer), Chris Rogers, Steve Rogers, Phil Rogers, Jacqui Cox, Paul McGreal, Bryan Roberts, John Rice and John Rock with Tony Rice and Eddie Edwards as co-opted members. The trust membership were reminded of the importance of helping the trust board with the various fundraising activities and that if or when the time comes that the trust take over, we will only be able to spend what our support can raise.

Gary McCann also joined the meeting and spoke of his plans for the season ahead. It has already been documented on the website that Davis Haule, Richard Wilmot, Belal Aiteouakrim, Sam Page and Jack Page have moved on to pastures new. Iavor Guentchev is currently on trial at a professional club in Bulgaria, but if things don't work out for him, Gary expects him to play a much bigger part for us in the new campaign. The rest of last seasons squad, with the exception of James Parker who as previously mentioned is away in the USA until September, are in training with us and are on board for next season. Gary confirmed that he has 4 or 5 new players already committed to joining the club although names will not be announced until all the paperwork has been completed. He is looking to run in the new season with a squad of around 20 players, which will give the team a bit more strength in depth than we had last season as we look to build on the excellent performances of the past 18 months.

Saturday 5th July - Youth trials a resounding success

The youth team trials were a resounding success with over 150 young people attending today across the age groups. Fortunately for all involved, the weather stayed dry and our youth managers and coaches had a good chance to see what the youngsters had to offer. The club would like to thank Jacqui Cox, Liam Coogan-Jobes and Charlie Osborn for their help with the administration of the day and directing people to the right places.

Friday 4th July - Venue change for Stevenage game

Due to the fact that work on the Claremont Road pitch hasn't progressed as well as we hoped, the venue for our friendly against Stevenage Borough has been changed. The game will now take place at Wembley's Vale Farm ground, with the same kick-off time of 7.45pm. Admission details will be announced soon.

Wednesday 2nd July - Ground clearing day

The Supporters Assocation will be holding their annual ground clearing day on Sunday 20th July from 9am onwards. Please do all you can to come along and help, old clothes and gloves would be advisable, and if you have any gardening tools please bring them with you. As usual drinks and hot food will be provided.

Wednesday 2nd July - AGM reminder

A reminder for all members of the Supporters Association, and also all members of the Supporters Trust that the two organisations are holding their AGM's on Thursday 10th July in the clubhouse. The Supporters Association AGM will commence at 8.00pm, and the Supporters Trust AGM will follow immediately afterwards. It is also hoped that Gary McCann will be able to join us to speak about his plans for the season ahead.
