In this part,
we take a look at our second season. After winning the Third Division title of the Finchley & District League in the previous season, the club began their second season in existence with a new name, 'Hampstead Town', and faced some fresh opposition having gained promotion up to Division Two. An increase in playing membership also ment that we could play our reserve side in the Fourth Division of the same League.
The first team got off to a great start and at the turn of the year were still unbeaten as well as sitting proudly at the top of the division :

Unfortunately during January
and February, the clubs Bramleigh and North Islington both had to drop
out of Division Two and their records were removed from the league table.
This was a blow to Hampstead who had played them both twice, and colledted
the maximum 8 points plus a useful 14-0 goal difference. Close rivals
Totteridge meanwhile dropped just 4 points and 2 goals from the loss of
those fixtures, and then gained even more ground by claiming a valuable
3-1 away win at Hampstead Town!
On 26th March 1910, the league table showed that there was absolutely
nothing separating the two top sides, amazingly we even shared identical
goal records and goal average (3.888), leaving us on top by alphabetical
order. There was just one game remaining with the top of the table looking
like this

So what happened
on Saturday 9th April, the last day of the season? The two games that
would settle the title were Caledonian Old Boys vs Hampstead Town and
Edgware Athletic vs Totteridge.
On paper at least, Hampstead Town (now Hendon) had by far the easier match,
a trip to Caledonian Old Boys who were struggling to get any sort of side
together over the previous few weeks. Totteridge were also away, but they
faced an altogether toughter task at Edgware Athletic who were unbeaten
in the league at home having dropped just one point in a 1-1 draw against
Hampstead Town.
Things couldn't have worked out better for Hampstead. They took advantage
of weak opponents by rattling up an impressive 12-0 win against Caledonian
Old Boys, doing our goal average no harm at all. Totteridge then had to
better that. In the event, the margin of Hampstead's victory did not matter,
a draw would have been enough as Edgeware proved tough opponents for Totteridge,
beating them 1-0 in a very tight encounter.
The outcome of these two games meant that Hampstead Town were champions
by two points. It was promotion for the second year running and the 1910/11
season would see them playing in Division One.
North Islington dropped out of the League in the middle of January 1910
having played half of their 12 games. Bramleigh followed suit in February
with 3 of their fixtures still outstanding. The results from all games
involing these two clubs were expunged.
