Hendon's good run of pre-season results continued on Saturday afternoon with a 5-2 win at Hanwell Town, who play in the Spartan South Midlands League Premier Division.

There was one new face in the Hendon line up in the form of goalkeeper James Reading, who was released from Wycombe Wanderers at the end of last season. In the Hanwell line up was former midfielder Marvyn Watson.

The first chance of the game fell to Hanwell in the 3rd minute, but their free kick was well saved by Reading. Shortly afterwards Jamie Busby had a volley fly narrowly wide from the goal, before Mark Kirby had a headed effort well saved by Kieran Jimmy.

Hendon were having the better of the game when Hanwell took the lead against the run of play in the 21st minute. A backpass went astray and before Readings had a chance to get to the ball, Sean Lucien took the ball round him and slotted the ball home.

The Greens were back in the game shortly before half-time when Brian Haule was played in by Busby and he finished clinically to restore parity.

Gary McCann made 5 changes at half-time and it paid dividends as Sam Berry put the visitors ahead in the 56th minute with a low shot having been set up by Glenn Garner. Ten minutes later Yacine Hamada added to the scoreline having been introduced to the game just moments earlier.

In the 69th minute Lubomir Guentchev made it 4-1 with a fine curling shot that gave Jimmy no chance in the Hanwell goal, before Hamada scored again with four minutes to go. Hanwell had a late consolation in the final minute scored by Steven Potter, but it was another win for the Greens that was attained with a degree of comfort.
